After a short debrief from your guide, you’ll begin your scenic walk with the Dubuji Boardwalk, which means ‘place of spirits’. This 1.2km loop will immerse you in the vibrant sounds and sights of the rainforest. Your guide will point out the unique plant and insect species you encounter along the way, allowing you to engage in the rich biodiversity. From towering trees to delicate ferns, make sure you absorb the sights and listen out for the sounds of birds and insects filling the air. Along the boardwalk, your guide will point out informative signs and provide further details about the rainforest ecology, unique features and the delicate balance that sustains the ancient landscape. Whilst not guaranteed, you might be lucky enough to spot the elusive Cassowary that calls the rainforest home, along with other native wildlife hidden off the path. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos along the way as you explore the rainforest and soak in the awe-inspiring vistas. The Dubaji Boardwalk comes to an end as you make your way down to Myall Beach, where you’ll stop for a lunch break to refuel and rest before continuing your exploration. Your tour will then continue to Marrdja Boardwalk, which means ‘rainforest’ or ‘jungle’. You’ll begin this next portion of your stroll by being immersed in the cultural significance of the area. Your guide will share stories of the Indigenous communities’ connection to the land, the traditional use of plants and the importance of preserving these practices. As you delve deeper into the rainforest’s heart, you’ll marvel at the unique plant life and get to appreciate the delicate balance of nature as you meander along. Continue your wildlife spotting as you have the chance to encounter diverse birdlife, butterflies, insects and other creatures. As you cross creek beds, look for fish species at full tide or watch for crabs burrowing in low tide. Once you reach the Noah Creek lookout, you’ll have the opportunity to take in the amazing natural beauty and take your photo fill. This will be the best chance to spot the elusive Saltwater Crocodile and other marine life in their natural habitat. This 1.2km looped track will bring you back to the same entrance point upon completion, with your tour finishing mid-afternoon, depending on how long you spend immersed in the rainforest. You’ll depart with a renewed appreciation for both the cultural and natural wonders of the Daintree Rainforest.
